Held at eight sites around Anchorage and Eagle River, We will partner with Food Bank of Alaska to help the needy during the Thanksgiving season.

We anticipate serving nearly 700 families as they collect the makings for a Thanksgiving Dinner.

This annual event is a favorite among volunteers. It’s a rich night of connecting with the community! Serve as a family, a group, or as an individual. Register here to be a part of this great event.

Below is the descriptions of the jobs we need to fill:

 

Runner

Position Purpose: Manage families registrations
Job Description:

  1. Pick up family registrations at the registration desk
  2. Put the forms in numerical order
  3. Take them to the announcer

Parking Crew

Position Purpose: Assure parking lot safety of volunteers and families.
Parking for families in the front near doors. Volunteers in the rear of
building in the back of the parking lot.
Job Description:

  1. As cars come into the lot, ask if they are volunteers or families coming for Thanksgiving Blessing.
  2. Direct volunteers to the rear of building in the back of the parking lot.
  3. Families receiving the Thanksgiving dinner to park in the front part of the lot near doors.

 Hospitality

Position Purpose: Treat families with love, kindness and compassion
in our “home”
Job Description:

  1. Greet the family being cheerful and kind after they have registered
  2. Take them to a table making them feel comfortable
  3. Have conversation with the families
  4. Answer questions they may have
  5. Pass out refreshments.
  6. Fill cookie trays and drink containers as necessary.

Timeframe: Two to three hours on the Monday of Thanksgiving Blessing

 Food Stockers

PositiPosition Purpose: Stock tables with food at designated area.
Job Description:

  1. Stock tables with like items. Not to over stock.
  2. Keep food in packaging until needed.
  3. At 8 p.m. on Monday, repack foods for transportation.
  4. Assist families to choose items.

Timeframe: Two hours on Sunday to stock tables; two hours on Monday of Thanksgiving Blessing.

Tear down / Cleanup Crew

Position Purpose: Tear down & Cleanup as directed by
staff. Remove decorations.
Job Description:

  1. Follow the directions of staff.
  2. Take down tables and chairs
  3. Remove all decorations
  4. Sweep floors.
  5. Other cleanup as needed

Timeframe: Two hours on Monday Evening of Thanksgiving Blessing.

Setup

Position Purpose:  Set up gym with tables and chairs, decorations. Creating a “home” atmosphere.
Job Description:

  1. Set up and chairs
  2. Put on table coverings
  3. Decorate tables with fall decorations
  4. Bag potatoes and yams, sort food
  5. Other setup as directed

Timeframe: Two hours on Sunday of Thanksgiving Blessing.

Family Registrar

Position Purpose: Greet families to our “home” and complete the
short form
Job Description:

  1. Greet the family being cheerful and kind
  2. Identify the family is within the 99517, 99519, or 99502
  3. Complete the form for the family by asking the questions.
  4. Give them to the runner

Timeframe: Two to four hours on the Monday of Thanksgiving Blessing

Position Purpose: Pray for needs as they present
Job Description:

  1. Mingle with the crowd.
  2. Pray with people as they have a need.
